Frequently asked questions

  • Can I join if I don’t know how to swim?

Yes! Our beginner experience (like Discover Mermaid) is designed for non-swimmers and held in shallow water with instructor supervision. For certification courses (like Basic Mermaid and above), you must be able to swim 25m and float for a certain amount of time.

  • I’m afraid of water. Can I still become a mermaid?

Absolutely. Many mermaids start out feeling nervous about the water. We take it slow and support you in gaining comfort and confidence. Discover Mermaid is a perfect place to start gently and safely.

  • Do I get to wear a mermaid tail? How do I choose the size?

Yes, you will! We offer mermaid tails and monofins in all sizes. Our instructors will help you choose the right fit before class to ensure safety and comfort.

  • Do the classes take place in a pool or the ocean?

Beginner classes usually take place in pools or calm shallow waters. Advanced courses like Advanced Mermaid include some open water sessions for real-world mermaiding experience.

  • What gear do I need to prepare?

We provide all essential gear (monofin, mermaid tail, mask). Just bring your swimwear, sunscreen, and a change of clothes. Fitted swimwear is recommended for comfort and safety.

  • Can I take photos during the class?

Yes, absolutely! You’re welcome to take photos or even book our photography add-ons. You can also bring your own waterproof camera—our instructors can give tips for the best shots.

  • Is it safe? Can kids join?

All courses are led by certified PADI Mermaid Instructors and take place in safe, supervised environments. Kids aged 6 and up are welcome in beginner-level experiences.
